14-15 APRIL, 2011 Bila Tserkva, Ukraine “Innovative Educational Activity: Regional Aspects” International conference “INNOVATIVE EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITY: REGIONAL ASPECTS” took place at Kyiv Regional In-Service Teacher Training Institute (Ukraine) on 14-15 April 2011. The conference brought together experts, policy makers, practitioners, academics and researchers to share experiences and debate new initiatives in the high education, secondary school education and in-service teacher education. It is generally acknowledged that in the 21st century the prosperity of countries and regions around the world will increasingly depend upon the quality of education and teachers’ work. Delegates representing wide range of institutions attended the conference and exchanged their ideas through the plenary, round-table discussion, debates and presentations. This event was organized and supported by: ♦ Kyiv Regional In-Service Teacher Training Institute (KRISTTI) (Ukraine) ♦ University of Education Management of the National Academy of Pedagogical Science (Ukraine) ♦ Institute of Pedagogies of the National Academy of Pedagogical Science (Ukraine) ♦ Institute of Information Technologies and Education Means of the National Academy of Pedagogical Science (Ukraine) ♦ Pedagogical Academy of Post-Graduate Education (Moscow Region, Russian Federation) ♦ Baku In-Service Teacher Training and Re-Training Institute (Azerbaijan Republic) ♦ National University (San Diego, USA) The following questions were discussed during the conference: ♦ Innovative process in education and its regional peculiarities ♦ Preparation of teachers to innovative activity in in-service education ♦ Information learning surrounding as a means of integration of global and regional features in education ♦ Management of innovative and scientific research activity on the level of regional education system Learning DVDs complexes developed at KRISTTI and materials of international exhibition of "Modern educational establishments – 2011" were presented during the conference. The goal of the conference was exchange of experience and ideas for implementation of education innovations, maintenance of regional educational priorities, management of innovative and scientific research activity. 164 participants took part in the conference including education policy advisers and managers, researchers, university academics, leaders of educational establishments, post-graduate students, teacher trainers, practitioners. During the plenary meeting professor Nataliya Klokar, rector of Kyiv Regional In-Service Teacher Training Institute, welcomed the participants of the conference and made a scientific report. Professor Boris Naydenko, head of the faculty of social and culture studies and history; associate professor Olga Solomennikova, head of the faculty of pre-school education (Pedagogical Academy of Post-Graduate Education, Moscow Region, Russian Federation); Professor Asaf Zamanov, rector; associate professor Polad Madadov, dean of Baku institute of in-service teacher training and retraining (Azerbaijanian Republic) actively participated in the conference. The participants of the conference had a chance to watch on-line presentation of Dr. Peter Serdyukov, professor of National University (San Diego, USA). On 15 April 2011 a round table discussion on organization of innovative educational activity took place. Victor Butnyk, head of General department of education and science of Kyiv region state administration, presented the Programme of development of Kyiv region education system for 2011-2014 during the discussion.
